6 Best SpyFu Alternatives in 2026
SpyFu focuses on competitors' paid and organic search history, and its own help center says it tracks Google only, covers 32 countries, and updates keyword rankings about once a month on average. As of October 2026 the main alternatives are Semrush (Keyword Gap for organic and paid keywords across five domains, from $139 a month, plus a $289 traffic toolkit), Ahrefs (organic and paid traffic and ads in Site Explorer, from $129), SE Ranking (organic and paid keyword research, traffic estimates and ads, from $129 with a 14-day no-card trial), Ubersuggest for budgets, Keywords Everywhere for volume and CPC while you browse, and Google Keyword Planner for free ad-planning data.

Facts about the alternatives come from each vendor's own pricing and help pages, checked on 12 October 2026, in US dollars before tax, and are 'as of October 2026'. SpyFu's pricing page did not load for our automated check, so we do not quote SpyFu's prices here; the SpyFu facts below come from its own help center. Check its current prices on spyfu.com.

The alternatives, one by one
Semrush: the broadest replacement
Semrush's Keyword Gap compares up to five domains for organic, paid or shopping keywords, which covers SpyFu's core 'what do my competitors buy and rank for' question. The SEO plan is $139 a month ($117.33 billed annually) for 5 websites and 500 keywords tracked daily; the Traffic and Market toolkit adds market-level traffic estimates for up to 100 competitors across 190+ countries for $289 a month. Semrush states 28 billion+ keywords across 142 databases. 7-day trial with exports disabled, and a free plan with 10 reports a day. Best for: agencies running SEO and paid search for the same clients. Limit: one user per plan, extra users from $45 a month.
Ahrefs: paid and organic in one Site Explorer
Ahrefs' Site Explorer shows a domain's organic and paid traffic and its ads, from a paid index Ahrefs states at 13 million paid pages, 9 million paid keywords and 7 billion paid ads, alongside its backlink data. Lite is $129 a month; Starter at $29 a month covers keyword and competitor lookups with 200 credits. Ahrefs states 28.7 billion keywords across 217 locations. No trial, and Ahrefs says it never runs discounts. Best for: competitive research that needs strong link data too. Limit: weekly rank tracking.
SE Ranking: competitor research for less
Core ($129 a month, $103.20 billed annually) includes competitor research with organic and paid keywords, traffic estimates and ads, a backlink gap analyzer and daily rank tracking for 2,000 keywords across Google, Bing, Yahoo and YouTube. SE Ranking states 5.5 billion keywords across 188 locations. 14-day trial without a card; payments are non-refundable. Best for: freelancers and agencies who want daily rankings and competitor data in one plan. Limit: its own FAQ says its search volume figures trail Semrush's and Ahrefs'.
Ubersuggest: the budget option
Ubersuggest includes keyword data, backlink data and 5 to 15 tracked competitors by plan. Its pricing page showed us local-currency prices; NP Digital's own blog (updated July 2026) lists $29, $49 and $99 a month, with lifetime options that are non-refundable. Best for: small businesses checking a few competitors. Limit: weekly rank tracking and low daily search limits.
Keywords Everywhere: CPC beside every search
Keywords Everywhere adds search volume, cost per click and competition to Google results and other sites. Plans are annual only, from $84 a year for 100,000 credits; one credit is one keyword and credits expire after a year. Best for: content and PPC people who want quick cost-per-click checks without a suite. Limit: no competitor ad history or rank tracking.
Google Keyword Planner: free, for advertisers
Keyword Planner is free for Google Ads advertisers. Google says you need to complete your Ads account setup, including billing information, and switch from Smart Mode to Expert Mode to use it. Google says historical average monthly searches are shown only for exact matches, and very low-volume keywords are not shown. Best for: keyword ideas and volumes at no cost if you already advertise. Limit: it does not show competitors' ads or keywords.

Competitor research now includes AI answers
Competitors can also win by being the brand an assistant recommends. SpyFu's Pro + AI plan bundles RivalFlow AI for AI visibility, and Semrush, SE Ranking and Ahrefs sell AI tracking too. Fenn focuses on that question alone: it asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok your buyers' questions, reports share of answers and share of voice against your competitors and the sources each assistant cites, and drafts fixes and pages you approve and publish. It has no keyword, PPC or ranking data. Plans start at $29 a month, set up after a demo.
