8 Best Local Rank Trackers in 2026

By Fenn9 min readAgenciesToolsLocal SEO

Local rank trackers work in two ways: a single check from one ZIP code or point, or a geo-grid that checks the map results from many points across a service area. As of October 2026: Local Falcon is the grid specialist (7,500 credits for $24.99 a month, one credit per map pin); Whitespark sells cheap single-point tracking (from $14 a month billed annually for 100 location keywords) plus grid credits from $10; BrightLocal bundles tracking, a search grid and listings per location ($41 a month, $31 billed annually); and Semrush, Wincher, SE Ranking, Keyword.com and Nightwatch add local or map tracking to wider tools. Price a grid by credits per scan, not by plan name.

8 Best Local Rank Trackers

Prices and limits below come from each vendor's own pricing, feature and help pages, checked on 12 October 2026, and are 'as of October 2026'. US dollars unless stated. Local tools price by credits, location keywords or locations, so we work through one example scan at the end.

Single-point tracking or a geo-grid?

A single-point tracker asks Google for the results as seen from one place (a city, ZIP code or coordinates) and records where the business ranks in the local pack, the map and organic results. It is cheap and good for trends. A geo-grid runs the same search from many points laid over the service area, such as a 7 x 7 grid of 49 points, and shows where the business ranks at each. It is the better picture for map rankings, which change street by street, but every point costs a credit.

The trackers, one by one

Local Falcon: the geo-grid specialist

Local Falcon sells credits, one per grid pin, with unlimited keywords and locations: Starter $24.99 a month for 7,500 credits, Basic $49.99 for 15,150, Pro $99.99 for 31,250 and Premium $199.99 for 63,150, plus annual packages. Plan credits expire at the end of each billing cycle; pay-as-you-go credits cost $0.05 each and never expire. Grids run from 3 x 3 to 21 x 21 on Google Maps and Apple Maps, and AI visibility tracking is included on every package, although its own pages list the AI platforms differently. White-label reports are on Premium only. New accounts get 100 free credits without a card. Best for: agencies that report map rankings visually. Limit: large grids burn credits quickly.

Whitespark: cheap single-point tracking, separate grids

The Local Rank Tracker is priced by location keywords and frequency: Small Business is $14 a month billed annually ($17 monthly) for 100 location keywords checked weekly, or $20 ($25) daily; Agency is $60 ($70) weekly or $85 ($100) daily for 1,000. It tracks Google and Bing on desktop and mobile, including the local pack, maps and organic results to 100, by ZIP code, postal code or coordinates, with unlimited domains and locations and white-label share links. Local Ranking Grids are sold separately as credits, $10 for 2,000 up to $200 for 65,000, at one credit per grid point (4 to 225 points per scan); unused credits expire each billing period, and 200 free credits need no card. 14-day trial of the rank tracker. Best for: agencies tracking many locations on a budget. Limit: tracker and grids are two products.

BrightLocal: tracking inside a local suite

Priced per location: Track is $41 a month or $369 a year ($31 a month) for one location, with tiered prices for more locations. The Local Rank Tracker covers up to 100 keywords and four competitors per location on Google and Bing, desktop, mobile and Maps; the Local Search Grid covers up to five keywords on Track, with grids from 3 x 3 to 15 x 15. Its product page promises a daily view, while its FAQ says reports run weekly or monthly with manual re-runs. A Local AI Visibility Tracker (AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, up to 20 prompts per location) is on every plan, and every paid plan can remove BrightLocal branding. It works only in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. 14 days free without a card. Best for: agencies that also manage listings and reviews. Limit: four countries only.

Semrush Map Rank Tracker

Part of Semrush Local: Base is $30 a month per location with 375 Map Rank Tracker credits, Pro $60 with 1,225, and multi-location businesses need a limit for each location. Semrush's Map Rank Tracker help page still describes an older structure (a free campaign with 50 credits on a 5 x 5 grid, and a $30 plan with 4,000 credits), so confirm the credit allowance in your account. Best for: Semrush customers with a few locations. Limit: 375 credits a month is under eight 7 x 7 scans.

Wincher: a grid add-on to a cheap tracker

Wincher's plans (from $49 a month, $41 billed yearly) include Google Maps tracking with weekly updates and 25 credits; extra credits cost €10 per 500. A 5 x 5 grid uses 25 credits per keyword. Best for: Wincher users who want an occasional map check. Limit: 25 included credits cover a single 5 x 5 scan.

SE Ranking: local positions in a suite

SE Ranking's plans include local tracking for 3 locations, with extra locations from $18.40, alongside daily tracking of 2,000 keywords on Core ($129 a month, $103.20 billed annually) and a local and map rank tracker. 14-day trial without a card. Best for: agencies that want local positions next to organic tracking and audits. Limit: it is not a dedicated grid tool.

Keyword.com: single points down to ZIP code

Keyword.com tracks from country to ZIP code and lists Google Business Profile and Maps tracking, with plans from $4 a month for 50 weekly Google keywords and unlimited users. 14-day trial without a card. Best for: tracking a handful of city or ZIP-level keywords per client cheaply. Limit: desktop and mobile count as two keywords.

Nightwatch: Maps alongside other engines

Every Nightwatch plan tracks Google Maps with Google, YouTube, Bing, Yahoo and DuckDuckGo, across 107,000+ locations in 190+ countries, from €99 a month (€79 billed yearly) for 500 keywords. Best for: multi-location brands that also need classic and AI rankings. Limit: euro pricing, and no geo-grid.

What one grid keyword costs a month

Take one keyword on a 7 x 7 grid (49 points), scanned weekly: about 196 credits a month (49 x 4). On Local Falcon's $24.99 Starter (7,500 credits) that is room for about 38 such keyword grids. Whitespark's $10 pack (2,000 credits) covers about 10. Semrush Local Base's 375 credits cover one, with change left over. Wincher's 25 included credits do not cover one. Scanning daily multiplies credits by about seven, which is why most agencies scan grids weekly and track single points daily.

Two names you may expect

Places Scout's website now redirects to Yext, and we found no Places Scout product or pricing page. Local Viking's pricing page redirected to an empty page when we checked, so we could not verify its current plans and left it out.

Local results and AI answers

Local questions are increasingly answered by assistants: 'best emergency plumber near me' in ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode. BrightLocal and Local Falcon now include local AI visibility tracking. Fenn asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok the questions a business's customers ask and shows which businesses each names and which sources it cites, then drafts fixes and pages to approve. It does not track map rankings or grids. Plans start at $29 a month, set up after a demo.
