9 Best Schema Markup Generators in 2026
For a handful of pages, a free form-based generator is enough: the TechnicalSEO.com Schema Markup Generator writes JSON-LD for 13 common types at no cost. On WordPress, use your SEO plugin: Yoast outputs core schema automatically in its free version, Rank Math's free plugin covers dozens of types with defaults per post type, and AIOSEO and Schema Pro ($69 a year) add more types and rules. At enterprise scale, Schema App and WordLift sell managed platforms on custom or annual contracts. Whatever generates it, test every template with Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema Markup Validator, both free.

Every tool below was checked on its vendor's own pages on 4 October 2026, with prices 'as of October 2026'. Rank Math and WordLift showed euro prices to us, which may depend on where you view them. One name you may still see on older lists, the Hall Analysis JSON-LD generator, is gone: the company renamed itself Cloud22 in September 2025 and stopped offering most of its free tools.
Why schema matters for search and AI answers
Schema markup is structured data, usually JSON-LD in the page head, that states what a page is about in a form machines parse reliably: this is a product with this price, this is an FAQ with these answers, this organisation has this logo and these profiles. Google uses it for rich results, and Google recommends JSON-LD where your setup allows it. For AI answers, the case is more modest: clear structured facts are easier to extract, but we found no assistant documentation saying schema decides which pages get cited. Mark up what is true and visible on the page, and nothing else.

Free generator
TechnicalSEO.com Schema Markup Generator
A free web tool from Merkle, part of dentsu, that needs no sign-in. Pick a type, fill in the form and it writes JSON-LD with the required properties: Article (including NewsArticle and BlogPosting), Breadcrumb, Event, FAQ Page, How-to, Job Posting, Local Business, Organization, Person, Product (with offers, ratings and reviews), Recipe, Video and Website. A button sends the code straight to Google's testing tools. Best for: a few key pages on any platform, such as the Organization block on a homepage or Product markup on a small store. Limit: one page at a time, pasted by hand, with nothing to keep it in sync when prices or details change.
WordPress plugins
Yoast SEO
The free plugin outputs Schema.org structured data automatically for the site and its content, includes How-to and FAQ blocks with schema built in and a breadcrumbs block, and offers a Schema API that plugins such as WP Recipe Maker and The Events Calendar use to add their own types. Yoast says Premium ($118.80 a year before VAT) outputs significantly more schema types. Best for: sites that want correct core schema with no configuration. Limit: Yoast does not publish a type-by-type list of free versus Premium schema.
Rank Math
The free plugin covers dozens of schema types, among them Article, Book, Course, Event, FAQ, Product, Recipe and Video, and applies defaults per post type once the Schema module is on; Rank Math's own pages give different counts (29 in its help center, 18 plus 6 on its pricing page). PRO adds types such as Dataset, FactCheck, Podcast Episode and Speakable, a custom schema builder supporting 840+ types, import from a URL or code, validation with Google and templates with display conditions. Best for: WordPress sites that want many types and rules without code. Limit: the most flexible features are in PRO.
All in One SEO (AIOSEO)
AIOSEO lists support for 20+ types including Article, Product, FAQ, HowTo, Recipe, Review, Event and LocalBusiness, a Smart Schema option where AI picks and writes the type, a custom JSON-LD builder with instant validation and a one-click test with Google. Its pricing page lists the schema generator on all paid plans, from $49.50 for the first year (renewing at $99). Best for: teams that want AI help choosing types. Limit: which schema features are in the free Lite version is not stated on the pages we checked.
Schema Pro
A paid WordPress plugin from Brainstorm Force: $69 a year or $229 lifetime, both for unlimited websites, with a 14-day refund. It covers 20+ types including Review, Local Business, Article, Service, Product, Recipe, Person, Job Posting, Event, FAQ, Course and Software Application, applied automatically by display rules and able to map Advanced Custom Fields. Best for: agencies applying schema across many client WordPress sites. Limit: no free tier.
Enterprise platforms
Schema App sells custom-priced contracts with a one-time strategy and setup fee, platform access and ongoing high-touch support, a 12-month minimum and no free trial; it no longer sells the platform alone. WordLift's Business+ plan is €799 a month billed yearly, covering its agent, a knowledge graph, schema and data integration tools and a project manager for up to 2,500 URLs, with Enterprise on quote. Both suit large sites that need schema generated from product feeds or templates across thousands of pages, with people to maintain it. For most sites, a plugin does the same core job.
Free validators: use both
Google's Rich Results Test checks a URL or a code snippet, as smartphone or desktop, and shows which Google rich results the markup can produce; it reads JSON-LD, RDFa and Microdata. Google recommends using it during development and the rich result reports in Search Console after launch. The Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org checks all Schema.org markup without Google-specific warnings. Run a new template through both: the first tells you about Google eligibility, the second about valid Schema.org.
Fenn's readiness check of a site's main page includes structured data, along with AI-crawler access, llms.txt, answer-first content, freshness and internal links. A missing or broken block becomes a fix with the exact change and a ready-to-paste prompt for your developer or AI coding tool; Fenn does not edit the site. It does not generate schema across a whole site, so it complements the tools above rather than replacing them.
How to choose
- List the types you need: Organization and WebSite for every site, then Product, Article, FAQ, LocalBusiness or Event by page template.
- On WordPress, start with the SEO plugin you already have; add Schema Pro or Rank Math PRO only for types it lacks.
- On other platforms, generate one block per template with the free generator and add it to the template, not to individual pages.
- Keep marked-up facts identical to the visible page. A price or rating in schema that does not appear on the page is a risk, not a signal.
- Validate each template with both free validators, then watch Search Console's rich result reports.
